A recent report issued by Amnesty International says tens of thousands of Iraqi detainees held without trial in Iraq for years, remain at risk of torture.
The report titled New Order, Same Abuse details thousands of arbitrary detentions, torture, severe beatings and ill-treatment to obtain confessions and enforced disappearances.
The report slammed the US for handing over the detainees to Iraqi authorities, despite its knowledge of endemic torture in Iraqi prisons.
Senior Iraqi officials denied the torture allegations, called the figures inflated and criticised Amnesty International for a lack of coordination before writing the report.
Joining the programme are Talib Alhamdani, the director general at the Iraqi Council of Ministers, Malcolm Smart, the director of the Middle East and North Africa Programme at Amnesty International, and David Pollock, a senior fellow at the Washington Institute for Near East Policy.
