Russia’s Shadow Fleet

Not long after the US imposed sanctions on Russia’s oil exports following the invasion of Ukraine, a whole new shipping industry emerged. The shadow fleet aims to get around sanctions on Russian oil. But the Russians are still making money. A lot of it. And the very countries that have imposed sanctions on Russia are helping to pay that bill.
