FIFA has installed its so-called Fan Fest on Copacabana Beach, where thousands of football fans and regular beach-goers gathered to see the match against Chile.
This gentleman was one of the first to enter the FIFA Fan Fest on Copacabana Beach to secure a good spot at the front of the venue.
The Brazilians, who had eliminated Chile in three previous World Cups, set a blistering pace from the start and Marcelo took a first crack at Chile with a volley that sailed wide.
Copacabana Beach exploded into cheers after Brazil took the lead. Neymar whipped in a corner in the 18th minute, Thiago Silva headed it on and David Luiz flicked it in for his first international goal in his 40th appearance.

A handful of Chileans cheered when Alexis Sanchez equalised for before halftime, stunning the crowd into temporary silence.
Following a pulsating 1-1 draw after extra time, Brazil vs Chile became the first match of the 2014 World Cup to end with a penalty shootout.
The shootout started well for Brazil when Luiz scored his spot-kick and Pinilla(***)s penalty was brilliantly saved by keeper Cesar. But then Brazil(***)s Willian kicked his penalty wide.
But Brazil goal-keeper Julio Cesar saved another spot-kick in the shootout, leaving Chile with one final chance to equalise.
Chile(***)s Gonzalo Jara, who plays for Nottingham Forest, hits the post! Brazil are through to the quarterfinals.
The crowd on Copacabana Beach exploded into loud cheers after Gonzalo Jara missed his penalty. Brazil will next face Colombia in the quarterfinals in Fortaleza on July 4.
