Bin Laden still haunting Pakistan and US ties
One year after killing of al-Qaeda chief, mending of relations remains priority, but mutual mistrust continues.

It has been a year since US forces carried out a raid that killed Osama bin Laden, the leader of al-Qaeda, in the Pakistani town of Abbottabad.
Ayman al-Zawahri, Bin Laden’s Egyptian deputy, took over the reins of al-Qaeda, and many believe he may also be hiding in Pakistan.
Bin Laden’s killing cast a long shadow over ties between Pakistan and the US, with Islamabad alleging its sovereignty was breached by the operation.
The mending of the relationship is a top priority for both countries, but mutual mistrust remains.
