  • Sadio Mane thrashed home a dramatic winner 12 minutes from full time to send Senegal into the Africa Cup of Nations final after they edged Egypt 1-0 in a tense last-four encounter.
  • It was as much as Senegal deserved after they dominated the match, with Egypt not having any shots at goal or even forcing a corner before they conceded.
  • Senegal found it tough, however, ‌to break down a resolute Egypt defence, and it was only a fortuitous ‌deflection that set up Mane’s chance.
  • But his ‌shot from the edge of the area was worthy of winning any match and sent Senegal ‌through to take on either hosts Morocco or Nigeria in Sunday’s final.

20 – Sadio Mané has been directly involved in more CAF Africa Cup of Nations goals than any other player since his debut and is the first on record (since 2010) to reach 20 goal involvements at the tournament (11 goals, 9 assists). Greatness. #TotalEnergiesAFCON25 pic.twitter.com/eF3buBIdfm

Mane catapults Senegal into AFCON final

It was a cagey match, with Senegal being the aggressors, and Egypt displaying their defensive fortitude.

Ultimately, Sadio Mane’s long-distance strike proved the difference maker, which was deserved as Senegal had the edge in possession (65 percent) and total shots (11 to four) over their opponents.

Egypt tried in vain to force an equaliser, but it was a case of being too little, too late.

GOAL! Mane scores. Senegal 1-0 Egypt

Mane breaks the deadlock in Tangier! Senegal worked so hard for that goal.

Camara initially tries to get away a long-ranged effort from dead centre. The ball comes off his marker, and deflects right in front of Mane, who is to the left of him.

Mane decides to have a go himself, and this time he gets it through the clogged area and beats El Shenawy on the right.

There is a quick check for any potential offside, but the goal is soon awarded, with the Senegalese fans going berserk.
